Service to Families and Individuals

For over 160 years, CSS has provided emergency assistance such as rent, mortgage and utility arrears and relocation services to New Yorkers in need to help maximize family stability during times of crisis.

We remain active members of the Emergency Rent Coalition (ERC). The ERC is committed to assisting and advocating for New Yorkers who are at risk of eviction/homelessness by providing education and relief to families threatened with eviction. We take referrals for eviction prevention assistance from other ERC members.

To apply for emergency assistance through the ERC call the New York Citywide Taskforce on Housing (“Housing Court Answers”) at 212.962.4795.

You can also call the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA): 877.HRA.8411 for what is called a “One Shot Deal.” Visit HRA’s site on “one shots.”
