WHY THIS WORK IS IMPORTANT TO ME:
“This work is incredibly important to me because I can help to affect change for certain communities, particularly communities of color, on a small, measurable scale. My position allows me to have a solid understanding of how policy gets created and implemented, and how deals get brokered. Additionally, I am afforded the opportunity to build relationships with elected officials and their staffs. This is extremely important because these relationships allow me to advance CSS’s policy agenda by highlighting the unique initiatives CSS is undertaking to address the needs of poor New Yorkers.”
